B. M.'s prolific Western author created one of her finest works of fiction in 1921. Bertha Muzzy Sinclair or Sinclair-Cowan, née Muzzy, better known by her pen as B. M. Bower, is an American novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter who focuses on America's Old West. She was the first female author to make a substantial contribution to the genre. Many of Bower's stories have been adapted for film, and her character and environment descriptions have left an indelible imprint on traditional Western cinema tropes.
