The Miracle of Saint Lawrence

Giuliano's life is turned upside down when his mother disappears without a trace and he suffers abuse at the hands of his instructor. He finds refuge in the monastery of Assisi. But a mystical experience in the Basilica of San Francesco and the intrigues of a fellow monk lead to his forced admission to a psychiatric ward, where he continues to bear witness to his miracle and attempts to publish its deeper meaning.

An unexpected turn of events leads him to the Vatican.
