Heilige Sprachen?

Noch immer behaupten die alten Sprachen Hebräisch, Griechisch und Latein ihre Stellung am Anfang des Theologiestudiums. Die Modularisierung des Studiums zwingt jedoch nun zu einer Revision. Dafür bedarf es sorgfältig abgewägter Argumente, bei denen die theologische Relevanz der Sprache überhaupt zum Thema gemacht werden muss. Denn an der «Sprachenfrage» entscheidet sich nicht weniger als die Stellung der Theologie unter den Wissenschaften und im Blick auf die Kirche.

Der Band bringt interdisziplinäre Erwägungen zu einer verantworteten Neufassung der alten Sprachen für das Studium der Theologie ins Gespräch.

The old languages, Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, still hold their place at the beginning of the study of theology. But the modularization of study now calls for a revision. This requires a careful consideration of arguments, in which the question of the theological relevance of language plays an important role. Because in regard to the «question of languages» nothing less is decided as the position of theology within the context of the other sciences and the church.

The volume contributes with interdisciplinary considerations to the discussion about an accountable new role of the old languages in the study of theology.
