The Memoirs of Mr. Charles J. Yellowplush

The book is written as though by a footman (Mr. Charles J. Yellowplush) who is in service to some rather undisciplined characters. To achieve the effect of a poorly educated person's writing, Thackeray intentionally spelled several words incorrectly. The result is a hilarious account of the man's working life.
